The Culture of Disability & Implications for Eating

Zoom link is in your confirmation email after you register.

Collaboration between speech-language pathologists and dietitians is critical for patients with dysphagia and feeding disorders. As the sociopolitical landscape of the United States moves towards a culture of inclusivity, many clinicians aim to incorporate anti-ableism and neurodiversity into their practice.  It is important to marry considerations for both racial/ethnic culture and disability culture into our treatment of people with dysphagia and feeding disorders. This presentation will introduce disability culture and how to combine it with racial/ethnic culture to meet the needs of our patients with feeding/swallowing disorders.
